The National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program funds graduate students pursuing Master's and doctoral degrees in STEM fields.

National Deadlines: Nov 10-14, 2025 by 4:59pm PT

November 10, 2025 - Life Sciences
November 12, 2025 - Computer and Information Science and Engineering; Materials Research; Psychology; Social, Behavioral and Economic Sciences, STEM Education and Learning
November 13, 2025 - Engineering
November 14, 2025 - Chemistry; Geosciences, Mathematical Sciences; Physics and Astronomy

Purpose:

The funds three years of graduate school for students pursuing Master's and doctoral degrees in STEM fields.

Eligibility:

In order to be eligible, a candidate must:

- be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident

- have not yet completed graduate study by August 1 of the year the application is submitted

- be an undergraduate senior, a post-baccalaureate who has not yet received graduate training, or in their first or second year of graduate school

- be pursuing research in a STEM field

Application Process:

There is no internal Oxy application process independent of the national application, but applicants are encouraged to share drafts of their applications with faculty members and with the Director of National and International Fellowships.
